Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a fire Monday that damaged a vacant home on east Madrid Avenue.
About 5:15 p.m. Monday, May 6, fire crews were dispatched to the report of fire at a home on the 800 block of east Madrid Avenue. Firefighters found an active fire in the vacant and secured home.
The fire and building conditions required firefighters to use extreme caution and attack the blaze from multiple angles. The fire was eventually brought under control about 6:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported, and investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
