Pro Football Hall of Famer Tim Brown will be the keynote speaker at the 17th annual Lou & Mary Henson Community Breakfast on Thursday, May 1 at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum.
The event begins at 7 a.m. and supports the Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces. Brown, a former NFL wide receiver and longtime member of the Raiders franchise, is also a former Boys & Girls Club member from Dallas.
Brown won the Heisman Trophy in 1987 while playing for Notre Dame, becoming the first wide receiver to earn the honor. He was selected sixth overall in the 1988 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Raiders, where he spent most of his 17-year career. He was named to nine Pro Bowls and inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015.

“We are indebted to the Henson family for their partnership and support over the last 17 years and feel honored that we have the opportunity to continue to honor Coach Henson’s legacy through our Club,” said Ashley Echavarria, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Las Cruces. “Hearing from a Boys & Girls Club alumni is always a great reminder that the work we do at our club each day can result in greatness for every young person we serve. Tim Brown is living proof of that and we are thrilled to welcome him to Las Cruces.”
In addition to his football career, Brown has been involved in charitable efforts including the 9-1-1 for Kids program and is a motivational speaker and author.
Sponsorships for the breakfast are available and include access to a VIP reception with Brown and the Henson family the evening before the event. Individual reservations are also available. To become a sponsor or reserve a seat, contact the Boys & Girls Club at 575-526-1519.
