The Las Cruces Police Department’s Traffic Unit issued 86 citations Thursday during a short enforcement operation along north Main Street.
Of the 86 traffic citations, 50 were issued to motorists who were driving in excess of the posted limit. The 35-mph speed limit has been posted along north Main Street since the New Mexico Department of Transportation widened the roadway to six lanes between Solano Drive and Triviz/Elks drives.
Other citations issued Thursday included:
- 18 for driving with no proof of vehicle registration
- 12 for failure to provide proof of insurance
- 2 for no driver’s license
- 4 for miscellaneous traffic infractions
Las Cruces police encourage motorists to abide by the posted 35 mph speed limit on that stretch of road. The speed limit is 35 mph in both directions.
The traffic enforcement operation began at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, and lasted about 75 minutes.
