Doña Ana County is showing support to our neighbors in Lincoln and Otero counties in the midst of wildfires in the Village of Ruidoso and Mescalero Apache Reservation. We have already mobilized resources to provide the following assistance:
• The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is working with the American Red Cross to support disaster shelters in the Roswell area. They are transporting a supplies trailer for the Red Cross, along with an OEM shelter support trailer. OEM is also taking shelter supplies for 40 pets/animals, including portable kennels.
• The Fire Rescue Department will assist with controlling and extinguishing the wildfires.
• Animal Control personnel will provide an emergency rescue and shelter trailer complete with animal cages.
