Las Cruces police are asking for the public’s help locating 30-year-old Sergio Guadalupe Jacquez who is believed to be responsible for a shooting that critically injured a man Sunday afternoon on Telshor Boulevard.
About 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024, police were dispatched to a shooting that occurred at an apartment on the 1400 block of south Telshor Boulevard. Officers arrived to find a 36-year-old man unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators learned Jacquez was at the apartment with his girlfriend when his friend, the 36-year-old victim arrived. The two got into an argument before Jacquez fired at least one round, striking the victim.
Jacquez fled from the apartment before police arrived.
Investigators have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Jacquez. The warrant charges Jacquez with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of 30-year-old Sergio Guadalupe Jacquez is asked to immediately call police. Jacquez may still be armed with a firearm and should not be approached. Anyone who harbors or aids a wanted person could also be charged with a crime.
