Police have arrested the suspect believed to be responsible for Thursday morning’s stabbing death of a 30-year-old man in Las Cruces.
Selena Carrillo, 28, was arrested Thursday and is charged with murder.
At approximately 11:45 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2024, Las Cruces police were dispatched to the report of a domestic disturbance on the 1900 block of Buchanan Avenue. Officers arrived to discover the victim, 30-year-old Michael Mata, who had sustained multiple stab wounds.
The victim was transported to MountainView Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators gathered information that identified Carillo as a suspect in Mata’s death.
Carrillo was arrested and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
