Las Cruces firefighters assisted Dona Ana County Sunday with a wind-driven fire that destroyed a mobile home on Glass Road.
Dona Ana County firefighters were dispatched to the report of a structure fire on the 2800 block of Glass Road about 3:45 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2025. Because of the strong winds at the time and the numerous exposures presented by the fire, Las Cruces firefighters were called to assist.
The exposures and threats caused by the fire included a large propane tank, live power lines and at least one nearby home. Sunday’s strong winds spread flames more than 300 yards from where the structure fire initiated.
Firefighters tackled the fire on various fronts and had it under control within 30 minutes. Dona Ana County fire units remained on scene for several hours extinguishing hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
The Dona Ana County Fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
