A structure fire damaged a home on the 3800 block of Silverado Loop Monday morning.
Las Cruces firefighters responded to a home on Silverado Loop just before 1 a.m. Monday morning in reference to a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire coming from a residential building.
The first responding engine arrived within minutes of dispatch and immediately gained access to the residence, allowing the crew to quickly knock down the fire.
After the initial knockdown, interior crews were able to determine that fire had involved the attic of the home, but they were able to extinguish the fire within minutes and kept it from extending throughout the building.
Responding engine crews had initial water issues as the hydrant near the home had low pressure, but were able to overcome those issues. Additional units were assigned to search for, support, and assist with water supply.
Las Cruces Police officers also assisted a homeowner to safety as the homeowner was forced to exit the home from the backdoor and needed assistance with locked side gates. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There is no estimate of damage at this time.
