Las Cruces police have arrested one individual believed to be involved in Thursday’s shooting at Salopek Park that resulted in the death of a young woman and serious injury to a man.
The shooting took place shortly before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, near Salopek Park on the 400 block of Salopek Boulevard. Julia Clark, 19, was shot at least once and was airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso. Clark died on Saturday.
A 19-year-old man was also shot during the incident. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
Apolinar Rosales, 18, was arrested Saturday evening and is charged with felony counts of voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence, and a misdemeanor count of resisting or obstructing.
Las Cruces police are continuing to investigate the shooting and believe at least one other individual is still outstanding.
