The Meerscheidt Recreation Center will close both of its gymnasiums during daytime hours for two weeks in March to allow construction work at the facility.
The recreation center, located at 1600 E. Hadley Ave., will close the gyms from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 9–13 and again March 16–20, according to a notice from the City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department.
During those periods, adult programming and open gym activities will be suspended, city officials said.
Evening practice rentals scheduled in the recreation gym will resume at 5 p.m. but will temporarily move to the main gym from March 9–13 while construction continues.
Evening recreation gym practice rentals scheduled for March 16–20 are still pending, officials said.
The city said youth league activities will not be affected, including Youth Indoor Soccer finals and Youth Basketball league events scheduled for March 14 and March 21.
