English conversation class for Spanish speakers returns to Branigan Library

Spanish-speaking residents looking to improve their spoken English can sign up now for a free seven-week conversation class hosted by Thomas Branigan Memorial Library.

The intermediate-level course begins Monday, May 12 and will meet weekly from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in the Roadrunner Room at the library, located at 200 E. Picacho Ave. Classes run through June 30, skipping Memorial Day.

Led by instructor Carlos Goebels, the program is designed to help students feel more confident speaking English in daily life and on the job. Each class includes group discussions on real-world topics and short student presentations. Participants will work on pronunciation, vocabulary and listening skills in a supportive environment.

Registration is recommended. To sign up, call 575-528-4005.

The course is offered by Las Cruces Public Libraries and is open to Spanish speakers who already have some experience with English and want to strengthen their communication skills.

For more information, contact Library Programs Manager Shuly Serrano at 575-528-4085 or email [email protected].

Anyone needing accommodations to participate is encouraged to call the library at 575-528-4102 or TTY 711 at least 48 hours in advance.
