Task Force Nets 10 Firearms, Arrests Two Juveniles

A multi-agency task force composed of officers from the Las Cruces Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, Metro Narcotics and agents from the FBI and ATF executed two search warrants Thursday that resulted in the arrests of two juveniles and the seizure of 10 firearms.

An investigation into juvenile crime and suspected gang activity led police to obtain probable cause that the juveniles were in possession of firearms and illicit drugs. Both search warrants were executed during the morning hours of Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Besides the 10 firearms seized, the task force located four ballistic vests and an undisclosed amount of fentanyl. Two of the 10 firearms were confirmed stolen.

Two juvenile boys, ages 16 and 17, were arrested. Because of their age, police will not publicly identify the juveniles.

Both were ordered to be held, initially without bond, in the juvenile section of the Dona Ana County Detention Center.

The task force is continuing its investigation and additional arrests are possible.
