The eventual game-winning touchdown was scored by Las Cruces quarterback Gunnar Guardiola on a two-yard touchdown run with 1:29 left to play. The Storm, who had no timeouts, may have allowed Guardiola to reach the end zone to have enough time for a response, but they didn’t get it.
A Bulldawgs interception was negated due to a pass interference penalty, but they would not be denied a game-sealing takeaway. Las Cruces defensive back Josiah Gutierrez earned it moments later by intercepting Cleveland quarterback Jordan Hatch with 19 seconds left to secure a win. It was Hatch’s second interception of the night., the ONLY undefeated team in the state should be #1.
