Changes to Las Cruces Public Libraries Book Vendor

The Las Cruces Public Libraries primary book distributor, Baker and Taylor announced their bankruptcy on October 7, 2025. This announcement was unexpected and sent shockwaves throughout the library world.

As a result of this announcement, Las Cruces Public Libraries is looking for a new vendors to supply library materials. In the interim, staff will rely on alternative methods for purchasing. However, the Library will not have a steady influx of new materials until an alternative vendor is secured. Patrons may notice a longer wait for items that are placed on hold.

“Library staff were surprised that Baker and Taylor announced they would be shutting their doors in January 2026,” said Library Deputy Director Sarah Booth. “Library staff is committed to ensuring our patrons get new and replacement items during this transition period. We understand how frustrating this may be and are working diligently to find a new vendor.”
