How many candles does it take to celebrate five birthdays at the same time? For Fred Harlow’s family, more than can fit on one cake.
Fred’s family was recently recognized with the Guinness World Record for the most generations sharing a birthday.
For the Harlow family, Sept. 14 has been a day to celebrate for 119 years. Fred’s grandfather Wilber was born on Sept. 14, 1907. Fred’s mother, Addie, was born on Sept. 14, 1949. Fred was born Sept. 14, 1972. His daughter Emma on Sept. 14, 1997. And grandson Arthur? Sept. 14, 2025.
That’s five consecutive generations born on the same day of the year.
With Arthur’s birth, the Harlow family officially surpassed the tie for most generations with the same birthday — four. And Emma points out there’s another synchronicity to the births.
“It starts with Wilber, so it actually goes boy, girl, boy, girl, boy — the entire way through,” Emma told KYTX CBS19.
