In the Venn diagram of running enthusiast and Taco Bell fan, you’ll find International Taco Bell 50k Ultramarathon racer smack dab in the middle.
No, really, we’re not making this up.
On Saturday hundreds of people with a TB craving and no concern for their digestive systems embarked on the 31-mile taco trot that took participants to 10 Denver-area Taco Bell locations.
The mission: eat a menu item from at least nine of the 10 restaurants.
While there was some flexibility in timing and food choices for the brave souls embarking on the culinary journey, all entrants were required to eat at least one Chalupa Supreme or Crunchwrap Supreme, and one Burrito Supreme or Nachos Bell Grande. What was very much not on the menu was Pepto Bismol, Alka-Seltzer, Pepcid A/C or Mylanta for calming turbulent tummies.
Runners had 11 hours to complete the challenge, and were tasked with keeping all receipts and wrappers for “confirmation of stupidity at the end of the run.” Because clearly the simple act of running after eating at Taco Bell wasn’t proof enough.
Run más, eat más, Live Más.
