Join the New Zia Country as we pay tribute to one of the leaders in saving traditional country in the 80s and 90s…John Anderson. Our tribute hosted by our very own Rowdy Yates will air at 12:30 this afternoon. There will be an encore of the show Sunday afternoon at 2, starting off the Original Country Gold classic country request show.
From fabled singer-songwriter to ’80s and ’90s hitmaker, John Anderson did it all in country music.
The singer-songwriter and country performer first began to see success in the late 1970s, when his single “The Girl at the End of the Bar” broke into the Top 40 on country radio.
He went on to chart more 40 singles over the next decades, and landed five No. 1 country hits, including country staples such as “Straight Tequila Night” and “Swingin’.”
Here is the announcement from John’s family.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and best friend.
To the world, he was a gifted country music singer whose voice and songs touched countless lives. To us, he was so much more. He was the heart of our family, the one who made us laugh, loved us fiercely, and made every ordinary moment feel special.
We are completely heartbroken.
His music will live on, but for us, his greatest legacy will always be the love he gave his family and the memories we will carry with us forever.
Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this unimaginable loss.
