A vacant warehouse in the 1700 block of Hadley Avenue was damaged by fire Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
The fire was reported to the Las Cruces Fire Department shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters found evidence of recent activity inside the building and there was a large amount of trash involved with the fire.
Las Cruces police, who arrived first, had to unlock a gate to allow the fire department to enter the property and extinguish the fire. The fire was controlled in less than 10 minutes. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
Four fire engines, one truck, one rescue unit, and a battalion chief responded to the blaze.
The incident and property were referred to LCFD Fire Prevention staff who has since reported the fire to the City’s Nuisance Abatement Team.
