Las Cruces eligible for up to $100K in new state arts, culture grant

Las Cruces is among 10 communities in New Mexico eligible for up to $100,000 through a one-time state grant aimed at boosting local arts, culture and creative economies.

The Arts & Cultural Districts Pilot Grant Program, announced by the New Mexico Economic Development Department and its partners, will award between $50,000 and $100,000 to each selected State-Authorized Arts & Cultural District. The funds are intended to launch or expand cultural programming, drive economic growth and build support for ongoing investment in creative industries.

The state’s Arts & Cultural Districts program was created in 2007. Las Cruces was officially designated as a State-Authorized Arts & Cultural District in 2018. Other districts include downtown Albuquerque, Artesia, Carlsbad, Gallup, Las Vegas, Los Alamos, Mora, Raton and Silver City.

Applications for the pilot program are open through Aug. 29. More information is available at edd.newmexico.gov/creative.
